Sometimes, when I’m in between longer reads, I love to pick up a shorter book as a palate cleanser. Though these books may not have as many words as a longer length book, they are no less enjoyable! Here’s a round-up of some books under 300 pages that I’ve enjoyed over the years. Happy reading! x

My Thoughts- I really enjoyed the storytelling of this one. Though the individual stories were on the shorter side, I thought the author did a decent hob at getting us to understand more about their motivations and how each story was interconnected. Definitely recommended for a slower, more reflective read.

My Thoughts- I literally picked up this book at an airport five years ago solely because the author had a Ghanaian name and I loved it! I still talk about it even now, lol. I loved how the author explored topics that don’t seem to go together, such as faith, science, and mental health. I think I read it in a day, it is literally unputdownable. Can be heavy at times so check the trigger warnings but so very touching.

My Thoughts- This book hit me days after reading it. I enjoyed the narration style. It was very stream of consciousness, diary entry-esque, and easy to follow for me. The story did leave me with more questions than answers and though I wish there was a finality of resolution, I appreciate the option given to us as readers to answer the questions with our imagination. I would recommend if you’re looking for a reflective read on humanity, and the constant state of not knowing… that death is certain and survival is putting it off as long as you can and having hope to believe that something will change.

My Thoughts- This was a cute and quick read about a single mom with a cafe who gets a chance to ask God anything and see how He answers. I found this story heartwarming in seeing how God can move through the people around us. Very hope-filled!

My Thoughts- Where do I begin with how much I really appreciated this book? After going through multiple depressive episodes, this book single-handedly changed how I view cleaning and organizing. I loved that the tone was non-judgmental, but rather like a helping hand or an older sibling providing support. I took notes when I read and find myself constantly going back to them when I need to be reminded.

My Thoughts- I appreciated the raw look into grief from someone who is hailed as a father of the Christian faith. I quite enjoyed this style of journeying alongside Lewis following the death of his wife. I could even see bits of how I felt when I lost my grandfather. One of my favorite quotes from this is: “If you’re approaching Him not as the goal but as a road, not as the end but as a means, you’re not really approaching Him at all.”

My Thoughts- Sydney is one of my favorite athletes ever so when I saw she was writing an autobiography, of course I pre-ordered it haha. I loved reading about her opening up with her struggles with mental health, and how her relationship with Jesus transformed her life. I also love when people are excellent in what they do – from training, to diet, to mindset, to coaching, etc. Very good read and made me love her even more!

I received this book as a eARC (thank you, Netgalley and the author!). A collection of beautifully written short stories about looking beyond the first agreements of love to what comes after. The author has a way with words. My favorite story was Nadine and Charles – it was refreshing to see a mature, second-chance love that made no promises other than loving each other in the here and now and choosing each other above all else. I also loved Mary and Cecil’s marriage, a connection so strong because they loved and chose each other every single day.

My Thoughts- What’s not to love about the Hunger Games meets The Bachelor ;)? On a more serious note, teenage me ate this book up! There was something about the court intrigue, the fairytale nature of being chosen, and seeing how our MC America (lol) has internal conflict about her secret love or a fairytale ending with the Prince.
