Here’s a round-up of mini reviews for books I’ve read lately. Over the last few months, I’ve been trying to be intentional with writing down my thoughts for what I read–it helps me remember what I liked/didn’t.

A fun and quick romance between a billionaire meteorologist and a marketing genius who moved back to her small town to start fresh. Dawson was Mr. Make-It-Happen and Eden was a witty FMC. I wished there was some more depth to the character relationships but it was <200 pages.
Keywords: workplace romance, meteorologist MMC, small town vibes

*3.25. Never read a fake exes story before. Imani and Asher’s relationship was sweet. I loved how they built up a friendship despite pretending to hate each other in public. I do wish, however, that we’d seen more of it play out on page. Also some weird pacing & continuity issues
Keywords: fake exes, he fell first, Black high society drama

Thank you to Holiday House for the eARC provided through Netgalley.
I really identified a lot with Nova – the perfectionism, burnout, tying my worth and value to my academic success. Fantastic! Hayes felt like a good compliment to her character. I admit that while I enjoyed their relationship, the movement from rivals to friends to lovers felt a little under explored.
Key words: academic rivals-to-lovers, mental health rep, relatable FMC
